We dream of a different world.
A world where we are encouraged to slow down. Take care of ourselves, do what we love, and reestablish our connection with community and nature. A world where food is grown in harmony with nature. Children are blessed to run freely, play, be creative, and have the support of their community. A world where most adults dare to do what makes their soul sing. Start that business that speaks to their heart, live in purpose, and make good money doing it!
By supporting local economies and organic biodiverse farming, we’ll heal so much. Not only do we heal our bodies and start to reverse the current health crisis we’re currently facing, but we also promote diversity by encouraging people to bring their magic to the world. We also begin to heal human’s relationship with the earth. This is powerful! This is becoming the change so many of us wish to see. Who doesn’t want local organic food, organic lotions, and natural fibers? Who doesn’t want to decrease the toxic load we constantly find ourselves bombarded with?
Our vision: Build Sustainable Trade Farms
The future vision of Sustainable Trades is to build Sustainable Trade Farms. Our Membership fees will support the creation of these farms. Sustainable Trade Farms will be an intentional community of sorts, as well as a place of business, while earning a good salary doing something you love is available to those who feel the call. Our goal is to pay farmers 80-100k for 30 hours/week, with 2 months off a year to grow food using permaculture and regenerative methods. There will be housing available on the farm, built using natural methods from local materials. A farmer and their family could choose to live on the farm, or they may choose to own a house off the farm.
ST Farms will be a place of community where many hands make light work—and work and festivity are one! There will be a school available for children, a school that in addition to the standard curriculum will teach about ecology, permaculture, natural building, survival skills, wild edible plants, meditation, free play, creativity, and ways to facilitate individual interests.
There will be a community kitchen that serves up delicious foods grown right on the farm. We’ll have a meditation dome, yoga studio, and workshops galore! It will be the village we all intuitively know we need. It’s our human nature.
We’ve all heard the saying: “It takes a village to raise a child”. I can tell you from my experience, it can be done without one, but would be so much easier and fun to have the support of a loving community.
